The New York Film Critics Circle has given out their awards this year, and bestowed their greatest honor on The Artist, the black-and-white silent film that is primed to make a run for the Best Picture Academy Award. Meryl Streep also won Best Actress for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady and Brad Pitt picked up a win for Best Actor for The Tree of Life and Moneyball. The Academy will have a tough time deciding not if Jessica Chastain will win, but for what film? The NYFCC didn’t make things any easier by selecting Chastain for her work in three films — The Tree of Life, The Help, and Take Shelter. Another thing to note — snubbing Martha Marcy May Marlene in the place of Margin Call in the best first feature.
