Over the next 2-3 months, you will hear about one movie over and over (and over) again — The Artist. A black-and-white silent film that pays homage to the past, Michael Hazanavicius’ The Artist celebrates the immortal gifts of simple storytelling and will more likely than not leave you smiling and saying “aw”. It really is a marvelous risk from the studio and filmmakers alike, to push this as their main Oscar competitor. It is by no means my personal favorite movie of the year (I’m not even sure it breaks the top 10), but I certainly enjoyed it and have no issue with it winning Best Picture and it very well could. Here’s a behind-the-scenes on the film that stars Jean Dujardin (guaranteed Best Actor nomination) and Berenice Bejo.
